Lesson 1
Â
The Church Throughout History:
Why Restoration Matters
Every restoration begins with a question: What was established in the beginning, and why does it matter today? In this opening lesson, we begin our journey through Church history by examining the biblical foundation of the early Church and exploring why understanding its origins is essential to understanding restoration. You will discover how history helps us recognize patterns, how Scripture provides the standard for evaluation, and why the Church must continually return to its foundation as it moves forward.Â
Lesson 2Â
Â
The Early Church:
 The Original PatternÂ
Before we can understand why restoration became necessary, we must first understand what was originally established. Explore the biblical pattern of the early Church—a community devoted to Christ, the Apostles’ teaching, fellowship, prayer, discipleship, and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
Lesson 3
Â
When The Church Lost It's Way:Â
Â
As the Church expanded across cultures, generations, and regions, it faced new challenges involving growth, leadership, tradition, political influence, and institutional development. Explore how a movement centered on Christ and the Gospel can gradually drift from its biblical foundation—and why recognizing that drift is essential to understanding restoration.Â
Â
Lesson 4
Â
The Reformation:
A Return To Scripture
Explore the Protestant Reformation and the questions that challenged established Church structures, traditions, and teachings. Examine the recovery of biblical authority, salvation by grace through faith, and greater access to Scripture. This lesson also considers the limits of reform, reminding us that recovering one neglected truth does not eliminate the need for continued restoration.
Lesson 5
Â
Restoration Is A Process, Not An Event:
Â
Restoration did not end with the Reformation. Explore how God continued to awaken His people to neglected or diminished truths through individuals, movements, revival, and renewal. This lesson examines restoration as an ongoing process of recognition, recovery, and responsible stewardship—and challenges each generation to remain faithful to Scripture while carrying God’s purposes forward.
Lesson 6
Â
What Is God Restoring Today:
Â
Restoration is not merely something God did in previous generations—it is an ongoing work that calls the Church to examine its present condition. In this lesson, we explore what God may be calling the Church of our generation to recover, strengthen, and re-emphasize. From biblical discipleship and spiritual formation to the work of the Holy Spirit, community, unity, and mission, this lesson challenges us to move beyond studying Church history and begin responding personally to God’s restorative work today.
Lesson 7
Â
Module 1 - Reflection / Assignment:
Â
This reflection and assignment invites you to look back across the biblical pattern of the early Church, the reality of spiritual drift, the Reformation’s renewed emphasis on Scripture, and the continuing process of restoration. You will consider how these lessons shape your understanding of the Church today and identify areas God may be calling you to examine, strengthen, or restore. Through thoughtful reflection, biblical discernment, and personal application, you will begin connecting Church history to your own life, ministry, and responsibility to carry the Gospel forward.
